Understand

I conducted a discovery meeting with key stakeholders during which pain points were identified and goals were clearly defined. Based on the information gathered, I created the target user profile and How Might We questions for the specific achievements desired.

Target Users

  • Adults with extensive background in medical billing and coding

  • Basic experience with technology

  • Business owners invested in growth and development

  • Individuals seeking out increased productivity

How Might We Questions

01 How might we allow more flexibility in the workplace without losing productivity?

02 How might we increase efficiency and use technology to scale growth?

03 How might we display a summary of metrics in a concise manner?

Design Process

Research & Analysis

Since this is a project for a small business, my research focused primarily on efficiency with resources and design components to create a simple interface to match the proficiency of the target audience. Through the How Might We Questions defined, I was able to conduct research using resources like Dribbble. I collected data around use cases for similar products to determine the best path forward.

Design

Wireframe

I created a basic wireframe for the application design using Figma. In the wireframe, I outlined the setup of the application and included very short descriptions of the content that would be placed there.

Rapid Prototype

My rapid prototyping process is where I built off the wireframe skeleton. I started to add more detail, color, and design components. During this phase, I added in a fifth tab to see a more in-depth view of the reporting.

User Testing

The rapid prototype goes in front of the end-user. I held a meeting with the owners of the billing company to review the design and receive feedback on various elements. For this project, I went back and added notifications to the front overview screen after this user testing session. The need for this was communicated and I adjusted the design accordingly.

Presentation

After the improvements and adjustments were made following user testing, a final version of the application was presented to the business.
